EU, UN AND HELLENIC PARLIAMENT LETTER WRITING CAMPAIGN AGAINST THE ANNAN PLAN

Organized by the Hellenic Electronic Center www.greece.org

A.- Congratulate the President of Cyprus Tassos Papadopoulos for his resounding OXI at

CyprusParliament@Hec.Greece.org

(your message will go to the Parliamentarians of Greece and Cyprus Parliaments.)

In your congratulation letter you can take under consideration the following:

 1) The rejection of the Annan Plan by the President of Cyprus is a historic triumph for Hellenism in the long term, despite what pressures and criticism it will bring in the short term.

 2) President Papadopoulos has affirmed the commitment of Cyprus to international peace, stability, and world order. It is in the interest of the international community for Cyprus to be settled on the basis of morality, human rights, and international law. If Turkish aggression is legitimized in Cyprus, other potential aggressors will learn that expansionism at the expense of smaller nations pays.

  3) The rejection of the Annan Plan by President Papadopoulos reaffirms for all Hellenism what our heroic ancestors in 1821, 1912-13, and 1940. The struggle for Hellenism is one that is unceasing.

  4) The stance of President Papadopoulos is one that is intended to benefit all Cypriots, Greek and Turkish alike. In the free and independent Cyprus that the President supports, all citizens regardless of ethnicity or religion will be guaranteed basic human rights. The Annan Plan violates the rights of Greek and Turkish Cypriots. The only beneficiaries of the Annan Plan are the Generals and politicians of Ankara who covet the territory of smaller states like Cyprus, and the terrorists who have been active in occupied Cyprus with the support of Ankara

C.-  Please send your letters to:

eu@hec.greece.org

un@hec.greece.org

Through these portals your petition and letters will go to the ranking officials of the EU, the members of the EU commission, the Council of Europe, the European Council and all MPs of the Europarliament; additionally, the letter to the Security Council will go to the current members and to all the representations of the UN.

The only rational choice is its rejection. The Annan Plan formalizes Turkish hegemony over Cyprus as a guarantor power, it prevents EU laws from being the supreme rule of law for Cyprus, it delegates Cypriots to a status of second class citizens and it spells disaster for the economic prosperity of the island. For the long term, the Annan Plan is the Trojan horse, which will be the beginning of the end of the EU and the beginning of Turkish hegemony over Europe and its institutions.

Once again, we appeal to you to write a short paragraph to be sent to eu@hec.greece.org and UN@hec.greece.org

Please state:

-You fully support the decision of the people of the internationally recognised Republic of Cyprus in determining their future in Europe

- You are outraged by EU leaders who are advocating that without the Annan Plan there will never be another solution or reconciliation process

-You insist that the EU live up to its founding principles in promoting EU primary law for Cyprus beginning May 1st, whatever the outcome

- You demand that the EU rebuff all attempts to punish Cyprus politically, economically and that the EU guarantee the security of the acceded island

- You condemn all those who insist on promoting Turkey in its present political and juridical state as a candidate for the EU.

Cyprus is but the beginning of a new Turkey that will be emboldened to take on Europe in its entirety and will be the trigger that will accelerate the pace for a neo-Ottoman hegemony in Eastern Europe.
