Article 11 Reconciliation Commission
1. An independent, impartial
Reconciliation Commission shall promote understanding, tolerance and mutual
respect between Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots. |
Comments
It is important that it be made clear that Article 11. 1. in conjunction with the details given in the main body of the Agreement purports to deny the people of Cyprus access to the European Court of Human Rights for violations of their rights perpetrated by Turkey during and after its illegal invasion and occupation of Cyprus and deny them the right to billions of Euros in non-peculiarly and peculiarly compensation. This denial of the right to justice and compensation cannot possibly be condoned in any way shape or form.
The mandate for the commission which is to be created fails to recognise the underlying historical fact that the division of Cyprus was not caused by the Cypriot communities not getting on with each other but because of an brutal unprovoked invasion and the ethnic cleansing of the Greek Cypriots by Turkey which is described in detail by the first three reports of the European Commission of Human Rights (Cyprus vs. Turkey) and the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights against Turkey, which followed a coup to oust the President of Cyprus sponsored by the CIA controlled junta in Greece. The function of the commission must be about reconciliation between the people of Cyprus, Turkey and Greece if there is to be any point in establishing it.
