ACTION CYPRUS

AN HEC PROJECT

Turkish State Sponsored Terrorism

The Deniz Incident

In October 1959 after an agreement on Cyprus independence had been concluded a British naval patrol boat intercepted the Turkish ship Deniz off the Karpass peninsular packed full of illegal arms and ammunition destined for the TMT terrorist organisation.

While the Cyprus liberation movement EOKA had already ceased its hostilities which had been directed against British colonialism and had began to disarm, Turkey allowed the TMT to arm itself the teeth in order to prepare for a campaign against the Greek Cypriots and prevent the Christian and Muslim communities from living together in an independent Cyprus republic.

Turkey proved it had absolutely no intention of honouring the agreements which it had put its name to or of respecting Cyprus independence.

Rather than Dr. Kutchuk it was Denktash's TMT that controlled the Turkish Cypriots which in turn was controlled by Turkey.
